The globe turns to operate the mechanism. the globe was manufactured by demuth of new york and many were retailed at the paris dunhill shop in the early 1930's. There is a Dunhill 1932 advertisement showing the demuth globe on page 292 of the bottoni dunhill petrol lighter book.
